Gamma x Emergence
We are excited by the potential to partner with you

Our team's expertise in PLG and our large network of engineers will help support your next phase of growth
Our Perspective
Presentations are created with 10x the frequency of other creative assets, but are still largely manual to build
  • Major companies like Webflow and Canva have been built by automating swaths of the graphic and website design processes. By contrast, presentations are built with >10x the frequency, but still lack tooling to automate their development
  • The pain of this lack of automation is severe. The average knowledge worker spends >260 hours/year on building presentations (~1 hour/working day). Nearly 40% of this time is spent just on formatting

Websites

~200-500K websites created daily
Graphic Designs
~3-5M graphic designs created daily
Presentations
~30M presentations created daily (just on PowerPoint alone)
With superior AI, Gamma is leading this nascent category of presentation automation
Many other products are trying/have tried to use AI to make presentation development less manual. We've found that Gamma has built a superior AI-powered experience for several reasons:
More powerful prompting interface

  1. Other AI presentation products often let you prompt only via high level phrases, with little room to expand detail. With Gamma by contrast, you can prompt with full outlines or even with entire presentations (See appendix for screenshot comparison)
  1. This directly impacts how high fidelity of a draft AI can create, especially on a first pass
AI that has better brand adherence

  1. A Director of Strategy at a marketing agency said that Gamma's AI was far better at incorporating brand styles than other tools that he had previously evaluated such as Tome
  1. This is non-trivial functionality as we are seeing entire companies being built just to use AI to enforce brand guidelines on creative assets
Faster iteration

  1. After trialing several tools, we personally found that it is much easier to quickly adjust the output of AI generated images and text on Gamma (See appendix for screenshot comparison)
  1. This tight feedback loop between inputs and outputs is a core principle of any good UX, but especially so with AI interfaces due to models' relative black-box nature

PLG Case Study: The Zoom Story

2014
We met with Zoom, then a company of ~70 FTEs and ~$5M of ARR. Virtually all of their revenue was coming from self serve $9.99/month plans

Most firms turned them down thinking that PLG could not be a sustainable long term motion

2015
We announced our investment as the first institutional investors in the company. We helped Zoom build out an enterprise motion on top of their PLG engine and made several key hires such as Dave Berman, President of GTM who oversaw ARR growth from $20M - $400M over 3 years

2020
Zoom went from $750M to $3.5B of ARR in <1 year. The combination of their well synchronized PLG and enterprise motions allowed them to capture the rampant demand for video conferencing software during COVID 19

Present
Zoom is a >$25B public company that has massively expanded the market size for video conferencing solutions. We are still active board members and work closely with Eric and his team to help build out the next phase of Zoom in the age of AI

Appendix
Other players are much more rigid in how they let users prompt AI
In Canva (on the left), you can only prompt AI with high level phrases. By contrast, Gamma (on the right) allows you to prompt AI in a much more flexible manner. Users can feed in outlines, or even existing presentations.
It is much easier to iterate on AI content in Gamma than in other products
On the left is an AI generated image in Beautiful. Even when clicked on, there is actually no clear CTA on how to adjust the content/regenerate the image. By contrast, the image on the right shows what happens when you click on an AI generated image in Gamma, it's incredibly clear how to adjust it, either by changing the prompt, theme, or even the underlying model.
